Actually, it didn't make him 'happy' that they were getting the same food, but it was a bit strange. And Tyler was the kind of person who liked strage. After all, it was a good thing... wasn't it? It was better for Cora to actually eat something unlike those skinny aneorexic bitches. Oi vay. Seriously, they just sit around and pick. And usually, the food's just wasted. Well, Tyler didn't have to worry about that. Unless she was going to pick....

Cora's head tilted a little, and Tyler was trying to hold back a mere laugh. It was done sucessfully, but you could tell when he was doing it. Wow. This Cora was some amazing person. Maybe she was so amazing because she was so odd. Different. Tyler liked different. It seemed like she had the power, every move they both make, but in a way, he respects that. She wasn't like Jenny, or Gemma, or any of them, but it just seemed like she had total rule over him, and he didn't mind at all. It was kind of creepy actually.

"So... What's new in your life? School? Home? Girls?" Actually, he didn't have much to say about his home, considering he lived alone, then again, Cora probably didn't know that. It was something sort of hard to say. He was having an argument in his head, deciphering weather or not he would tell her. And there was another argument. Should he tell him about Charlie? Well why not, right? It's not like Cora was in LOVE with Tyler. He doubted that she even liked him. But, then there it was again. Chances. What if Cora DID like Tyler more than a friend. Probably not, but still. He finally decided what he was going to say.

"Well, I'm getting crammed with homework in school, though you should probably know..." Cora was a senior. She must of been terrified of homework! Wait a minute. How did he know that she was a senior? That was freaky. Just like the shrimp pasta....

"And I just got a new apartment and moved away from the orphanage like a month ago..." It just kind of blurted out of his mouth. There wasn't anything he could to to stop himself. He was holding back so much about Charlie... but should he REALLY tell her?

Cora's head was processing all of what she had just heard. It was being turned over in her head like a chef mixing in all the ingredients of a salad. Just don't put in raisins because they aren't meant for salads. He was swamped with homework but whatelse was new. Almost every teen was swamped with homework. It was like a mandate or something. They all had to be given a ton of homework so they had no chance of a social life, but of course, there were always ways around that.

The thing that was nagging at her heart, however, was the fact that he had just moved away from an orphanage and gotten a home of his own. Wasn't he a little young to be living on his own? He didn't look older than sixteen. She didn't really think it was safe for him to be living on his own, but then she reconsidered. The corners of her mouth drooped a little as she pondered. He had been raised in an orphanage, right? So that would have taught him somethings. Plus, he didn't look like the kind of guy to go off and do something stupid. But with guys.... You could never tell. They were unreadable, just like fortune cookies.

She leaned foreward and took a sip of her drink. Cora didn't really want to dwell over the fact that he didn't have any parents. It would cause an awkward silence one way or another. Oh wait... Hold on folks, this may be it... Yes, I do declare a silence. She smiled to herself in spite of it all. She always seemed to be able to find humor in the weirdest places. That was her job though. It was her brother's to put on a clown nose and work a birthday party. She could have snorted right then and there, but Miss Manners would have frowned on that. But when had she cared about Miss Manners? No... I don't think ever.

Her smile widened as she came back from la la land. She said, "Yeah, I know what you mean. Homework is so heavy at times. And I already need a forklift for my emotional baggage, so you can only imagine." She swirled her straw around her glass, knocking the ice around the glass. She looked up at him again and said, "I see you have cunningly managed to avoid the subject of girls. Just because I'm a girl, doesn't mean that I won't listen to what you have to say. I may be of some help, after all." Her smile widened a bit. You go girl.

"Yeah, I know what you mean. Homework is so heavy at times. And I already need a forklift for my emotional baggage, so you can only imagine." Tyler was nodding along with what she said. That must of been crazy. And college was only soon to come. More work. Sometimes it was like life was pointless. Wake up. Work. Sleep. Nothing was ever good enough to live for anyways. "And to think that college is going to keep us going for another four years after graduation." He said, his voice scrunched up. He hadn't even thought of how he was going to pay for college yet.

"Just because I'm a girl, doesn't mean that I won't listen to what you have to say. I may be of some help, after all." Gulp, gulp. Maybe he shouldn't of quite avoided the subject. And it's true... after all, girls can definately help with that kind of stuff. Maybe Cora and Charlie were close and Cora could give him some advice or something. His throat was dry. He gulped his drink just once before his reply. "WELL... there's this BOY... no I'm just kidding." He was still trying to avoid it. "Yeah, so. The girl. Her name is Charlie. And I just don't know what to do. I think she only likes me as a friend, which I'd even be okay with that, but... I just don't know how to confront her." He definately spit a lot out that time.

Cora had to agree with him on the whole college thing. It was killing her practically, knowing that she had to pick a college, and a four year one with a good standing reputation. No community or state college for her. Her parents were Ivy League all the way. Sometimes Cora even thought that they wanted her to go to an Ivy League because they were on the east coast. At least, she thought most of them were. Penn State, Princeton, Yale, Harvard. Oh wait, Standford, that was Ivy League, wasn't it. In the back of her mind though, she thought she remembered something of how her parents didn't want her to go there. She was thinking about applying there just to peeve her parents.

She looked down at her hands, just thinking of all of the pressure that was being put on her. She really disliked it. Cora didn't think that she had a clue of where she wanted to go or what she wanted to be. Everyone loved to ask her at all of the social functions that her parents dragged her to. It was really more of a chore or a family obligation, but she was seriously ready to screw over all social obligations, except for her brother. She would probably never get over taking care of him. What a good little sister she was.

Cora then gave a slightly amused look at Tyler. He had actually told her about a girl he liked. It was so cute. She really didn't expect him to be so honest. It really was cute. Yeah, so. The girl. Her name is Charlie. And I just don't know what to do. I think she only likes me as a friend, which I'd even be okay with that, but... I just don't know how to confront her. Now it was time for her to work her magic. But, but, she didn't have any magic. She wasn't really all that good with relationships, but she did call it when it came to relationships. Here goes nothing.

She tried to cover up her surprised look when Tyler said that. Cora knew that she didn't do a very good job with it. She laughed as she said, "Don't mind my face, it sometimes has a mind of its own. I know that is kind of weird, but it is true. So, I actually do know Charlie. She is so nice, really she is. I think she would understand whatever you said. I would suggest though, don't do it at her house or at a party. That would be bad, a lot of pressure. Do it somewhere where you know both of you are comfortable. And one last piece of advice, Charlie doesn't really show her feelings. She goes around life masquerading how she really feels. You probably won't know how she feels about you until you actually tell her how you feel." Now that was a lot.

Tyler was nodding, trying to follow along taking mental notes every here and there. It was kind of funny how he didn't really know what to say. He sipped his coke and continued to listen. "Okay." He said. "But that's the problem. I'm scared to confront her. I'm intimidated that she won't even want to be my friend if i tell her that I like her. I'm scared that she'll never be the same around me: all awkward." He felt so wrong hanging out with Charlie, but so right at the same time. Like wrong: Why am I hanging out with you so closely if you don't know how close I actually feel. Like right: This is a feeling I want to keep forever. It was so hard to be around someone without being able to let things out.

Cora seemed to of helped alot though. It was quite the experience having dinner with her. She was wacky and nice. It was a good feeling to hang out with a girl that doesn't have a MOJO crush on him. "Don't you have a boyfriend... Aaron?" He asked Cora. He just wanted to know because he was pretty sure it had been going around the school... and Aaron was a really ncie guy. He's helped Tyler out once or twice. "He's a really cool guy..." He paused. He had a hesitation for a second, took a breath, pounded it out, and completely forgot what he was going to say. He laughed.

The waitress came with the bill, and Tyler snatched it from her hands, just to make sure that Cora wouldn't grab it. He pulled his wallet out of the pocket of his jeans, slipped in a few bills that would cover up the tip and stuff, and put it on the front of the table.

"Hey, Cora..." He started. "Thanks. It's been fun." It's been fun...

Cora almost knew what he was going through. It was one of the worst feelings in the world, right up there with feeling oblivious and feeling frozen. Those were things that she never wanted to experience, at least, not again in this lifetime, or even her next. They were horrible, terrible, no good, very bad feelings, just like in the book. That was one good book though.

Cora gave a small smile as Tyler responded to her long monologue. But that's the problem. I'm scared to confront her. I'm intimidated that she won't even want to be my friend if i tell her that I like her. I'm scared that she'll never be the same around me: all awkward. She shook her head a timy bit as she replied, "I really don't like cliches but I'm gonna say it anyway: You'll never know unti you try. I say, you should do it. If she really is your friend, then things won't change even if she doesn't like you, but if she does, even better. Give her a chance. Give yourself a chance."

She twirled her straw around in her glass yet again. Thinking about what she had said. She wasn't really one for advice but if she did say so herself, it was good advice. If only boys would listen to her more often. Cora nodded as Tyler brought up Aaron. She said, "Yeah, um, he's my boyfriend." She smiled as Tyler stopped midsentence. It was funny when guys forgot what they were saying. It reminded Cora that guys were humans, not robots all programed to do and say the same things.

She watche as Tyler got the bill before she even realized what was happening. She made a few sounds in a high pitched voice, "Uh, Bu, Eh" Obviously, he wouldn't be swayed. Boys. She then spoke in a full sentence, replying to what he had said, "Yeah, it has been lots of fun. We should do it again some time." She made a dramtic pause, then continued, "Soon. With Aaron, you, and your soon to be girlfriend, Charlie." Girls and their evil ways.
